Waterlogging in City Assumes Alarming Proportion

Monsoon, a lovely time to stay indoors and enjoy the weather but the real problem kicks in when people have to go outside and struggle with the rain and hence water everywhere. Children have to go to their schools; adults have to go for their work no matter how terrible the whole situation is. But in spite of this, there should be no denial that waterlogging in Dhaka and also the whole of Bangladesh is getting worse year by year. Although the citizens of Dhaka never drag their spirits down, but the problem ahead should also be addressed.

দৃষ্টিভঙ্গির পরিবর্তন হচ্ছে তা খুঁজে বের করা দরকার। রাস্তায় নারীদের নিরাপদ চলাচলের জন্য সরকার কর্তৃক পরিবহন আইনে নারীদের জন্য বিশেষ ধারা প্রণয়ন করা যেতে পারে, সব রুটে পৃথক নারী পরিবহন চালু করতে হবে এবং তা যথাযথ কর্তৃপক্ষের নজরদারিতে রাখতে হবে। ব্যক্তিমালিকানাধীন গণপরিবহনে নারীরা সুযোগ-সুবিধা পাচ্ছে কিনা তা নিশ্চিত করতে সরেজমিন তদারকি করতে হবে।

Thunder storm: A deadly natural disaster

A thunderstorm is a storm with lightning and thunder. Its produced by a cumulonimbus cloud, usually with gusty winds, heavy rain, sleet and sometimes hail. Thunderstorms can occur year-round and at all hours. But in Bangladesh, they are most likely to happen in the spring and summer months from March to May, during the afternoon and evening hours. Lightning form thunder is extremely hot and a flash can heat the air around it to temperatures five times hotter than the sun’s surface. A lightning strike delivers an at least 300 kilovolts to whopping 600 kilovolts (1KV=10, 00000 v). 110 volt is enough to kill a person, 1500 volt is sufficient to apart a large tree. So, we can easily assume that how dangerous the thunderstorm could be.
