ব্যক্তিগত গাড়ি ব্যবহারে নিয়ন্ত্রণ প্রয়োজন

বিংশ শতাব্দীতে মানুষ যেমন জীবনযাত্রার মান উন্নত করেছে, তেমনি নিজেদের সৃষ্ট কারণেই অতিষ্ঠ হয়ে উঠেছে। আমাদের এই বাংলাদেশ আয়তনে ছোট হলেও জনসংখ্যা বেশি। বিপুল জনসংখ্যার চলাচলের সুবিধার্থে রাস্তায় রয়েছে লাখ লাখ গাড়ি। কিন্তু রাস্তার আয়তন কম হওয়ায় বাড়ছে যানজট। আমাদের রাজধানী শহর ঢাকা বসবাসের অযোগ্য, ২০১৮ সালে এমনই এক ঘোষণা দিয়েছে যুক্তরাজ্যের ইকোনমিস্ট ইন্টেলিজেন্স ইউনিট। বসবাসের অযোগ্য হওয়ার অনেকগুলো কারণের মধ্যে ‘দূষণ’ এবং ‘যানজট’ অন্যতম। দূষণ ও যানজট আন্তঃসম্পর্কিত। সড়কে দীর্ঘ যানজট বায়ুদূষণ বৃদ্ধিতে মুখ্য ভূমিকা পালন করে। ঢাকা মেগা সিটিতে অন্তর্ভুক্ত হলেও ঢাকার মতো এত যানজট অন্য কোনো মেগা সিটিতে নেই। জনবহুল এই শহরে সকাল বেলায় এখন আর পাখির ডাকে ঘুম ভাঙ্গে না, পাখির ডাকের জায়গায় অবস্থান নিয়েছে গাড়ির হর্নের বিকট শব্দ। একটা সময় ঢাকা মসজিদের শহর নামে পরিচিত থাকলেও এখন সুধিজনরা ঢাকাকে গাড়ি আর যানজটের শহর বলে আখ্যা দিয়ে থাকেন। গবেষণা প্রতিষ্ঠান ‘নামবিও’ প্রকাশিত ‘ওয়ার্ল্ড ট্রাফিক ইনডেক্স-২০১৯’ এর তথ্য অনুযায়ী, যানজটের দিক দিয়ে ঢাকা প্রথম স্থানে রয়েছে। ২০১৮ সালে দ্বিতীয় স্থানে ছিল। মাত্র ৩ বছর আগেও বাংলাদেশ তৃতীয় স্থানে ছিল। যানজটের মূল কারণ হিসাবে ট্রাফিক আইনের প্রতি অবহেলা এবং ব্যক্তিগত গাড়ির ব্যবহার বৃদ্ধিকে দায়ী করা হচ্ছে।

What would a car-free world look like?

Bangladesh is a small country with a large population, and millions of cars on the road. The roads of this country are too narrow for a large number of private cars, so naturally, they cause traffic jams. Our capital city Dhaka was declared as an unlivable city in 2018 by the UK’s Economist Intelligence Unit. The two main reasons for being labelled as an unlivable city were pollution and traffic jam. Pollution and traffic are interconnected. Long traffic congestion on road plays a major role in increasing air and noise pollution. According to World Traffic Index-2019, which is published by a research institute Nam Bio, Dhaka led the world in traffic congestion. Not only that, our capital is also at the top of the time wastage and traffic inefficiency index. The increasing number of vehicles, especially private cars should be held responsible for the increasing traffic in Dhaka City.

World Cleanup Day Be Aware Of Problems Caused By Garbage
World Cleanup Day is observed on the third Saturday of September every year in an effort to keep the country clean. This year it is being celebrated on 19 September 2020. It is an annual global social program and the main goal of celebrating this day is to make people aware of the need to dump garbage in certain places, to make people aware of the problems caused by garbage.

যান্ত্রিক যানবাহনই বায়ু দূষণের জন্য বেশি দায়ী
২০১৮ সালে আমাদের এই প্রাণের শহর ঢাকাকে বসবাস অযোগ্য ঘোষণা করেছে যুক্তরাজ্য ভিত্তিক ইকোনোমিস্ট ইনটেলিজেন্স ইউনিট। আর এই বসবাস অযোগ্য হওয়ার একটি অন্যতম কারণ ঢাকার পরিবেশ। ঢাকার পরিবেশ দিনে দিনে আরও বেশি খারাপ হয়ে যাচ্ছে। পরিবেশের সবচেয়ে মূল্যবান উপাদানটি হলো বায়ু, যেই উপাদান ছাড়া আমরা বেঁচে থাকার কথা চিন্তা করতে পারি না। সেই উপাদানটি আমাদের অসচেতনার কারণে অনেক বেশি ক্ষতিগস্ত। সবাই জেনেও এমন সব কর্মকাণ্ডে লিপ্ত হয়ে যাচ্ছি যার কারণে বায়ু দূষণের পরিমাণ যেমন বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে, ঠিক তেমনি দূষণের কারণে আমাদের ভোগান্তির পরিমাণ ও বেড়ে যাচ্ছে।

Our homeland, the world, has endured so much oppression that it has kept us alive even today. Earth’s environment is under threat today due to various human activities and natural causes. But everyone’s dream is a clean and tidy country. “World Cleanup Day” is observed on the third Saturday of September every year in an effort to keep the country clean. This year it is being celebrated on 19 September 2020 with the goal to make people aware of the importance of dumping garbage in certain places, to make people aware of the problems caused by waste. Among the other Municipal waste, plastic has become a terrific threat to our environment.

Ozone for life: Celebrating ozone layer day
In 1994, the UN General Assembly proclaimed September 16 the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date of the signing, in 1987, of the Montreal Protocol in the Vienna Convention on substances that deplete the ozone layer. Bangladesh has been observing the day since 1990 following signing of the protocol in the same year. In 1930, two French physicists Charles Fabry and Henri Buisson first discovered the ozone layer. The ozone layer is a layer of earth’s atmosphere that has relatively high levels of ozone gas. This layer is mainly located in the lower part of the stratosphere.

Importance of celebrating National Education Day

Governments around the world have closed all educational institutions indefinitely to control the Covid-19 epidemic. The implementation of this decision has affected the educational activities of about 80 percent of students worldwide. Like other countries in the world, the government of Bangladesh has closed all educational institutions in the country since March 18, 2020 as a strategy to protect students from the attack of this deadly virus. During this long hiatus, the entire education system of the world, including Bangladesh, is facing difficulties. Many questions have been raised about online learning and its effectiveness. Schools, colleges and universities are currently operating all over the world in various temporary ways using virtual platforms. After being closed for almost two months, the government has decided to reopen all offices-courts, factories and public transport from May 31, 2020 on the condition of complying with health rules and ensuring social distance. As a result, the most talked about issue at various levels is when will the situation improve, such as the opening of educational institutions? In such a situation, “National Education Day” is being celebrated all over the country on 16th September.
